When Your Wife Makes You Move out of an Apartment the Right Way

I thought moving would be just a handful of boxes I could move in our car, and borrowing a van to move our furniture. It was a lot more than that even though we lived in a tiny apartment. My wife made me do it the right way. I put a bunch of stuff in a plastic garbage bag and was taking it to the car. She stopped me and made me wrap each piece before packing it in boxes. None of the stuff was fragile! Then she told me to hire moving out cleaning for Singapore apartment dwellers to come in and clean out our place after it was empty. I asked her what needed cleaned out after it was empty?

She told me that she was not leaving behind a mess for the property manager to see. I asked, what kind of mess could be left behind once the apartment was empty? She showed me on the day the last piece of furniture was moved out. Continue reading

The Day I Understood the Stress Teenagers Are Going Through

When our kids used to complain how hard it was to be teenagers I would remind them of how hard it is to be adults. My wife and I work long hours to make sure they are provided for including getting a good education. Then I saw the stress our daughter was going through trying to get a good grade in her physics class. She was crying one evening doing homework. We really put too much stress on our kids as a society. I can’t change that stuff, but I could help her get the best physics tuition available to help her get a good grade in her class.

I would tell our kids about being an adult when they complained about how tough it is to be teenagers. I don’t do that anymore. I am seeing how school, peer pressure, worry about getting into the “perfect” university and so much other stuff wears on our kids. Granted, this stuff that means everything to them now will be just good and bad memories later on. However, it is their world now. Thinking about that got me looking at my priorities too. We can, as adults, be like teenagers who think fitting in socially and not being at the fringe of any peer group is absolutely necessary for survival. Continue reading

Getting Old 78 Records from Ages Ago Playing Again

My great-grandfather gave me a big steamer trunk filled with things. The old trunk is what people would put their clothes and belongings in when they would go on a voyage. It was sturdy and did not show its age. He got it from his dad, so it was very old. I had to learn how to fix a slow record player because of what was in the trunk. It was also worth a lot of money due to the type of trunk it was and its condition. The locks even worked, and it had keys. The leather straps were not dried out, and they were still strong enough to use as handles when lifting it. Continue reading

Moving Far Enough North That It Was Snowing There While People Were Swimming Were I Moved from

My friends kept singing that Johnny Horton song about going north when I told them I was moving to Canada. I told them the song was about a state, and it was farther north than where I was going in Canada. I was moving from very much farther south where you can enjoy warm temperatures in the middle of January. This was going to be a new experience. Plus, I had to pick February to make my move. It was snowing like crazy the day I called around looking for storage in Toronto. I had a lot of extra stuff that my tiny apartment could not hold. I sold my small home, and was on a five-year contract with a northern energy exploration company based in Toronto. I would not be home much, so the small apartment made sense. This is especially true since the company was giving me an allowance for rent, and I did not want to exceed that. I was planning on saving as much as I could toward an early retirement with this five years of income.

The snow was about two inches deep when I pulled the moving truck I rented into the lot of the storage facility. It is a huge building with storage facilities for all needs. I needed an 8×10 room. I told them that and had to convert that to the metric system. I keep forgetting that us folks from the States are really the only ones left using Imperial measurements. Continue reading

I Am an Advocate of Chiropractic Care

I know some people would never step foot in the office of a Redding chiropractor because they would feel they don’t need this kind of doctor. Those are the same people who would never go to a dentist either unless they have an excruciating toothache. Again, these are the ones who only go to their doctor when they are feeling extremely sick, and sometimes not even then. I really don’t understand people like that. We only have one body, and we have to take the best care of them if we are to get through this life with as little pain as possible.

I am a huge advocate for people seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis. I don’t mean that people who are not ill or injured need to go once a week or even once every couple of weeks. Continue reading

I Try to Handle What I Can on My Own

My parents took care of the apartment building that I now own for many years on their own. They are both really hard workers and they never had any problems doing everything that needed to be done. But I am single and I have no extra work. So, instead of falling behind, I pay someone to do move in cleaning for Singapore businesses. My parents told me that they thought it would be too expensive to that and said that I should try to do it on my own, but it costs less to pay someone. It costs more to hire an employee because of labor laws.

My parents retired around six months ago. They took care of the building for 40 years. Many of the people who live there have been there for many years and know my parents well. They all watched to see how I would do with taking care of the building, and I think all the renters and my parents are proud. I try not to bother my parents too much with any of my needs at work. The More You Know, the Better You Feel

When I signed my son up for JC physics tuition, he wasn’t too happy about it. He hated doing physics in school, and to have to get special help for it made him feel even worse. He felt like he was dumb for not getting it when the other students were, and he just wanted to quit. His confidence took a major hit and he just couldn’t take it anymore. I told him not to give up, because there was always someone out there would help him understand physics.

After taking tuition, my son improved greatly, and his mentality about physics did a total 180 degree turn. He felt smart for the first time in a long time, and he seemed more confident. Continue reading

I Hurt Much More the Day After the Accident

Six weeks ago, I was in my first ever auto accident. It was not a major one as neither vehicle involved was going over 35 miles per hour. I knew that if we had been on an interstate going much faster, the outcome would have been much different. I wish I could say that all was fine and dandy because of that, and at first it was. There was some damage to my car, but I was just so grateful that I was not hurt. A few days later, I found myself in the office of a chiropractor in Peoria.

I was asked at the time of the accident if I wanted to go to the hospital just as a precaution. The other driver was offered the same courtesy, but we both refused. We were out walking around, assessing the damage, and talking with the police with no problems. I went to sleep that night feeling okay, but the next morning was a different story. I have heard that is how it happens, but I honestly thought I would have felt worse that first day. Because I felt fine, it was a shock to find myself in so much pain. Continue reading

Looking to Pick a Chiropractor

It was not really all that bad of an accident, although it is true that I came out of it with a nice lump on my forehead. Aside from that I was pretty sore and I had a few cuts and some bruises. It was a good while later before I realized that the pain in my back was not going to go away. My boss gave me the phone number of a Beverly Hills chiropractor, but I figured that the guy would have to charge a lot of money to make the rent on his address. I was pretty much right, but I started to wonder if you really want to cut corners on this sort of thing. In fact a lot of bad things can happen to you when you lay down on that table. Some of the worst things do not happen with back problems, obviously the really scary thing would be if you had a neck problem. Continue reading

How to Save Big Money with Cutbacks and Changes That Won’t Make You Feel Like You Are Missing out

I have a friend who told me how she was going to go into financial insolvency due to cutbacks at her work and her current bills. I told her that I was willing to take a look at her finances and show her exactly how much she could save each month if she trusted me. I am not an expert by any means, but I am savvy when it comes to saving money. The first thing we looked at was how much income she was going to have every month to the dollar. First stop then was TXU energy options to see how much she could save on her monthly energy bills. Continue reading

How We Want to Book Our Tour of Israel

We want to go someplace special. We have learned about all the different people in the bible, and we would really like to walk the same ground they walked long ago. It would be amazing to see the history of a place such as Israel. We want to take advantage of one of the best Israel tours that are available. We do not want to join one that is going to be catering to any large groups of people. When we look, we are seeking a tour company for Israel that will let us also see Jerusalem and that can cater to small groups. We are hoping to have enough to go on a trip with a semi-private or all private tour. Either one would be okay, and it would be preferable to going with a large group.

However, if we were able to get family and friends to all book a trip to Israel, then it would be fun to go in a big group. I just do not want to go with a group of strangers. Yes, I am funny that way. Continue reading

Getting the Internet Ready for the Kids

I never had the need for New York local Internet because I was rarely at home. When my sister asked if she could move in with me, I knew that was the only thing that I would have to get because of her two kids. She promised they would not be there long, but I was actually thrilled to have them stay. I knew that the kids would want to have online access to keep in touch with their friends and play games, so I told her I would make sure it was ready before they even got there.

I had no idea which company to choose though, so I did some research from my office connection. I was able to find a website that had all of the information that I needed, and I was even able to arrange the installation of the service from there too. I use the Internet at work for business purposes, but I really don’t have a need for it beyond that. I don’t stream videos, I don’t play games, and I don’t have any social media profiles. The difference though is that I am nearly 45 while the kids are almost teens. Continue reading

Sealed Foods for the Winter

In my field, I grow a lot of fruit and vegetables that I rely on of profit and to get me throughout the year. They taste so good when they’re fresh from the tree or the ground, but they won’t last for long. Eventually I have to pick the fruits and vegatables and sell them off while I still have time. I sell them whole, frozen, and sealed. Sealing the food in jars with MAP packaging systems keeps the food fresh long after it has been picked, so you can eat it any time you want.

I love to eat preserves in the winter time. My favorite thing to do in the winter is to open a jar of peach preserves, cook some biscuits, and spread the preserves on a biscuit cut in half. The sweet taste of the preserves goes really well with the light and fluffy biscuits, and really gets me going on those cold winter mornings. When I’m in the mood, I’ll sometimes eat the preserves on their own. I can finish off a whole jar of preserves in the blink of an eye. Continue reading

I Feel Better with a Security System

My grandmother lives in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, which is Miami. She moved there when she was widowed nearly 30 years ago and has loved every day there. I decided to move there when a job opportunity came up for me. I wanted to be closer to her, but I also loved the area myself from former visits there. I was able to find a small house that was right on the outskirts of town, so I got an incredible deal on it. The next thing I did was contact ADT Security in Miami because my gram told me they were the best security company around.

She has been a customer of theirs for decades, so she definitely knows what she is talking about. Continue reading

The Followers Come in Droves

I buy Soundcloud packages to boost my followers and listens, and it actually works. Before I did this, I was only getting a small number of people on my songs, and these people were my close friends and family. They were pretty much only listening because they wanted to be nice or they felt they were obligated to do so. While it was nice of them, I needed more people besides them to listen to my stuff. That’s when I did some serious thinking. There had to be some kind of way to get more people to listen to my songs.

I thought about doing various marketing techniques, but when I weighed out the cost, it was more money than I wanted to spend and more than I could afford at the time. Continue reading

Popular Jazz Guitar Models for Jazz Enthusiasts

Tips To Make Better Recordings Now – Part 5 of 8 - The Official ...Many people take up the jazz music scene and it isn’t hard to see its appeal to the masses. Whether you are a pro or a novice, the type of guitar you use for your music truly has an effect on how well you will perform. This article will help take a look at some of the affordable and popular models of jazz guitars.

If you are looking for a classic, but new 50s appeal to your jazz guitar, the Epiphone Emperor can be a good choice. It has a laminate body and is very affordable for the average jazz guitarist. It can work as an everyday guitar to take on the road without having to worry about any aesthetic scratches. The Emperor is easy to handle and play, has a very good tone, but it isn’t very versatile in terms of music; works best for jazz guitarists only.

The Fender Telecaster is often dubbed as a popular choice for rock or country enthusiasts, but it works well for jazz guitarists too! It has a warm tone to it and can withstand wear and abuse. Continue reading

How Much Are These Guitars Worth?

Guitar Player Tells You How To Sound Like a Pro | Fender Front Row ...I am hardly a professional guitar player. I was in a band in high school, but we broke up after about half a dozen shows. My Dad is still mad about the money he spent buying us a Public Address system. However my Uncle Louis was a very accomplished jazz musician and when he died last summer he left me a collection of guitars and a lot of his other stuff. To be honest I am not really sure what some of these guitars are called. Most of them are similar the Gibson Les Paul or the old hollow body type Gibson that Mary Ford would play. One of them is a Hofner, but I am not sure which model it is. Continue reading
