Organic Farming in the Modern Times

To maximize the results of using organic farming fertilizers, proper planning and execution process are crucial. Soil tests can be carried out on a yearly basis to help organic farmers determine the amount of fertilizers to use. The crop yield is also a good indicator of the effect of the fertilizer. To cut down costs on fertilizers, farmers can compile their own organic fertilizer by composting manure and organic materials together. These products cause no harm to the environment but should still be supervised closely for possible breeding of harmful bacteria. These materials can usually be gathered at the farm itself; thus, there’s no need to transport artificial fertilizers from distant places to the farm location. This helps to cut down on carbon footprint and transportation costs. By combining these natural fertilizers with farming techniques such as polyculture, the soil fertility is maintained while the nutrients are diversified. This will benefit the crops as different crops require and contribute different nutrients.
